Marking two decades since his diagnosis with blood cancer, Geoff Thomas MBE continues to inspire as he rides the full Tour de France route for the seventh time — and he needs your support.

On 4th July 2025, we proudly celebrate Geoff Thomas MBE Day, a poignant milestone marking 20 years since Geoff was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2005. A former England international footballer turned tireless advocate for blood cancer patients, Geoff was given just three months to live. Today, he is not only living — he is thriving, pedalling across France as part of The Tour 21 team, cycling all 21 stages of the Tour de France route a week ahead of the professionals.

This year’s ride is especially meaningful. Geoff is aiming to raise £50,000 — enough to fund a Cure Leukaemia Research Nurse for one year, helping drive forward the research and clinical trials that save lives like his.

“It’s been 20 years since I heard the words ‘you have cancer’. I was lucky — I had access to a clinical trial that saved my life. I want every blood cancer patient to have the same chance,” said Geoff. “That’s why I keep riding. That’s why I’ll keep going.”

To mark Geoff Thomas MBE Day, supporters can help fund vital research and be in with a chance to win an incredible piece of cycling history.
